On this day we commemorate the Institution of the Blessed Sacrament. We remember and celebrate Jesus giving us his Body and Blood, which we receive in the Holy Communion.
The ancient custom of washing each other’s feet is also observed at this service.
At the end of this service we strip the altar in preparation for the Good Friday observances.
